Team Coaching: Freedoms and Constraints

Team coaching is shaped as much by what it deliberately excludes as by what it embraces. Every framework, every contracting conversation, every ethical line draws a boundary — and those boundaries are where the real craft of the work lives.

This session brings together Country Presidents, Board members, Global Accreditation partners and Centre for Excellence leads from across EMCC Global for a facilitated conversation on where team coaching’s freedoms and constraints actually sit — from the basics of what team coaching is (and isn’t), through advanced systemic boundaries and competence frameworks, to duty of care, ethics, and the emerging boundaries and bridges of AI in team coaching.

Rather than a broadcast webinar, this is a working dialogue: participants shape the conversation in the chat and in breakout rooms throughout, alongside contributions from presenters representing EMCC’s global community.

What you’ll take away

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

• Distinguish team coaching from facilitation, training and consulting, and apply EMCC’s definition in practice
• Identify introductory and advanced systemic boundaries — including organisational politics, stakeholder relationships and triangulation risk
• Apply the “5 Cs” (Competence, Confidence, Capability, Capacity, Coping) as a practical self-assessment for team coaching fitness and integrity
• Recognise duty-of-care and ethical boundaries, and the case for supervision as practice rather than obligation
• Understand the boundaries and opportunities AI presents for team coaching, and what a shift from human-centric to humanity-centric coaching means in practice
