Leadership Coach - London


For 25 years I have worked in the fields of leadership development and coaching, organisational change, strategy and culture, dignity and diversity at work, the physical working environment, team facilitation, and employee engagement.

Our working lives often lack the space for reflection and generative thinking, and so my aim is to facilitate my clients to take a step back, build self-awareness, develop confidence and self-belief, acknowledge their strengths, and explore strategies in order to tap into their own creativity to maximize performance, resilience, and personal fulfilment.

Clients say that I am insightful, energetic, and intuitive, and that working with me is fun and intellectually challenging in equal measure! I combine strong analytical skills with the ability to cut through the noise; together we get to the nub of the issue.

My work is firmly rooted in psychological principles and theories. I draw upon my background in psychology and my combined love of the theoretical and the practical to work creatively with clients, acting as a catalyst for new perspectives to emerge. I take an integrative and flexible approach, drawing upon Transactional Analysis, positive psychology, the Thinking Environment, and Cognitive Behavioural principles. With many years of line, senior and middle management experience, I have first-hand understanding of the challenges of managing and motivating diverse individuals and teams.

My interest in psychology goes way back. I achieved a first-class honours BA majoring in Psychology from the University of Queensland in 1988. My focus on the application of psychology in the workplace was re-ignited in the late 90s prompting me to complete my Masters in Occupational Psychology at Birkbeck, University of London, in 2001. Once I’d completed my MSc I moved into consultancy where I worked with clients across the private, public and charitable sectors before branching out on my own in 2011 to start Insight. Over the years I have shifted the balance of my work from big consulting projects to focus more on 1-1 and team coaching and supervision. I also deliver training in coaching skills for managers, and at the moment, am a lead coach facilitator for the Level 5 Apprenticeship in Professional Coaching for managers.

In my spare time, I love nothing more than to paint and take photographs, mostly of nature. When I’m not doing ‘work’ you can find me in my little art studio, painting abstracts that are inspired by nature. Every couple of years now I aim to take myself on my own travelling art residency to explore, and indulge my passion for creativity. I recently spent two wonderful years refining my art practice at the Newlyn School of Art, and continue to be amazed at the synergy that exists between my creative and professional work.
