Executive Coach - London & South East

I coach and develop Future Leaders who want to develop themselves for leadership roles. In today’s world I believe it is essential that we identify and develop our next-generation talent.

I help clients understand and develop the mindset, skills, personal characteristics and experience needed to take on challenging senior roles. My passion is in helping clients to understand themselves and explore what sort of leader they want to be.

My approach to coaching I focus on understanding my clients as people, their values, their priorities and their style. My aim is to provide an environment which is both supportive and stretching, helping them to explore how they operate as leaders and to build strategies to improve performance and achieve their goals.

My coaching is practical, holistic and tailored to each individual. I believe it is important to help my clients find their own unique leadership approach and style, aiming to answer the core question “What Sort of Leader Do I Want to Be?”

I provide a confidential sounding board to clients make difficult decisions and explore the situations they find themselves in. I help my clients refine their skills, thinking and inner resources to equip them both to deal with present challenges and achieve results now as well as deal with the challenges they will encounter in the future.

My background I have been coaching and consulting with senior managers and leaders for nearly thirty years in a range of roles. I teach on business school programmes around the world and also advise and consult with organisations that want to transform their culture and performance.

I have worked in the education, not-for profit and financial services sectors in professional HR, people and change roles culminating as Head of Organisation Development for NatWest Group. I moved into consultancy with KPMG’s London practice leading major people and operational projects for clients across the UK.

I am an entrepreneur and successful business leader myself. In 2002 I set up an award-winning change consultancy, working with senior managers and leaders to deliver transformation for their people and their businesses. My business was listed in the FT Top 200 Consultancies in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and won a range of other awards.

Sectors I have worked in include the public sector, Civil Service, pharmaceuticals, insurance, banking, investments, energy and telecommunications. Clients include large and medium sized businesses such as Roche Pharmaceuticals, British Gas, RBS, Ovo Energy, the Civil Service, Lloyds Banking Group, Centrica, BUPA, Prudential and Capita.

I've been working with Gary for a year as part of a leadership development programme. My experience of formal professional coaching was really quite limited, so I began our journey with a degree of scepticism. I have now come to realise the incredible value coaching can add, both in terms of personal and professional development. I've worked with Gary as a coach for the past year as part of a leadership development programme. As a coach myself, I knew what the benefits of coaching can be but I had never actually found the time to seek out a coach for myself. I have found Gary to be very professional, always well prepared for our sessions with a great grip on the issues that I have been working through. He gave me the time and space to reflect and to encourage me to focus on not just how I respond to situations but why. And then helped me to harness that for my own betterment. Gary has coached me over a period of a year via a leadership course. Whilst being slightly skeptical of coaching in general, each session with Gary has been incredibly useful both for me personally and professionally. In particular, he was able to encourage me to talk about a range of issues, elicit my own self-reflection (something I never usually do) and help me better understand my own behaviours, strengths and weaknesses through both my lens and others.
