About me
Executive Coach - London
I have spent my career as a senior leader: a managing director several times, a management consultant for over 25 years and the chair of a board. Coaching is now the work I enjoy most. It is rewarding to work with capable people who have a real job to get done, and to help them get it done. I am an EMCC Senior Practitioner and trained as a coach at Henley Business School.
**Who I coach**
Managing directors, members of executive teams, founders, and people taking up a first non-executive, trustee or chair role. Most come to me when the job has just got bigger, the stakes are high and there is a real outcome to deliver.
**What we work on**
- Taking up a senior role and the first 100 days
- Leading a transformation or a business under pressure
- Credibility and influence with a board, investors or a parent group
- Moving into governance: what the role asks of you, and where oversight stops and management begins
A typical case: a managing director a month into a new role, with an inherited leadership team, a set of numbers and a board expecting a plan to change the business. We work out what has to change now, what can wait, and how to bring the team and the board along.
**My experience**
I have worked in strategy, growth and transformation as a consultant with Accenture, Capgemini and Infosys and as a managing director. I grew Slalom's London business, more than tripling its revenue, and then led Codit UK, growing revenue fourfold and improving EBITDA by 30 per cent. I have owned the P&L and signed for the numbers as a statutory director four times, and my work has covered the UK, Europe, the US and India.
I chaired the board of an academy trust and its audit and resources committees, and I am now a trustee of Pioneer Educational Trust.
I'm Irish and have lived in Ireland, in Australia, in Germany for fifteen years and in the UK. In Germany I worked as an engineer at Bosch and earned a doctorate in engineering at the University of Stuttgart. I work in English and in German.
**How I coach**
I don't hand out advice or a playbook. Because I have done the job, I get to the commercial reality quickly and ask the harder questions, but the answers are yours, and that is why they hold up after the session. Sessions are practical and reflective, and they will challenge you. Each one ends with a next step you own.

Stephen McCormac is a trusted colleague I have known since 2023. I first met him through the owner of Limivex, and later, when I became managing director there, Stephen served as a non-executive director. He provided sound, experienced guidance that helped support the business's stability. We've developed a good working relationship over the years. Through his leadership coaching I found him to be excellent, personable and a great listener. He understands emotional intelligence and has helped me grow in confidence, particularly when tackling new situations. He's someone I respect and would welcome any opportunity to work with again. I'd highly recommend him.

Stephen has sat in the senior seat himself, and it shows. Combining decades of business and leadership experience with a strong coaching toolkit, he skilfully gets to the core of challenges and opens up new perspectives. He is compassionate, hears what is said and notices what isn’t, while creating a safe space where you can think and explore honestly. When I was stuck in a cycle of all-or-nothing thinking, he opened up the possibilities I could see. When I started running in several directions, he brought me back to the one step that really mattered. Within a few sessions I had much greater clarity and a plan I am committed to and acting on. I would highly recommend Stephen as a coach.
