About me
Executive Coach - Letchworth
I'm Dr Alexa Smith, a neurodiversity and ADHD coach. I work with adults who are ADHD, autistic, AuDHD or dyslexic — and with people who think differently but don't have, or want, a diagnosis. Many of my clients are professionals, executives and leaders who have spent years holding everything together in workplaces that weren't designed with them in mind.
I'm neurodivergent myself, from a neurodivergent family. I know the effort it takes to mask and adapt, and I also know the insight and strength that can come with being wired differently. That lived experience shapes how I coach: with respect, curiosity and no judgement, whether you were diagnosed decades ago or are still working out what fits.
How I work
My approach is person-centred and transformational. Coaching with me is a partnership: I won't hand you a standard toolkit, because one-size-fits-all rarely works for neurodivergent people. Instead, we explore how your particular brain works — your patterns, your energy, your environment — and build strategies that actually stick. Clients tell me they leave sessions with both new understanding of themselves and practical steps they can use straight away.
Common themes include managing overwhelm and executive function, navigating a late diagnosis, working out what to disclose at work and how, leadership and career decisions, and rebuilding confidence after years of feeling like the problem was you.
My background
I'm a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation, with over 1,000 hours of coaching experience. Before coaching, I spent 25 years in senior leadership roles across the pharmaceutical industry, academia and the charity sector, including AstraZeneca, Cancer Research UK and UCL Business. I also hold a PhD in Developmental Neurobiology from UCL. I'm not a neurodiversity researcher — but my scientific training means I'm rigorous about evidence, careful with claims, and comfortable helping clients make sense of what the research does and doesn't say.
Alongside my own practice, I work as a Senior Associate with neurobox, delivering workplace coaching (including Access to Work-funded support), line manager training and neurodiversity consultancy. That gives me a working view of both sides: what individuals experience, and what organisations can realistically change.

Working with Alexa has been an invaluable experience. Having built up a strong relationship over the years, I feel completely at ease with her. She creates a deeply safe psychological space that allows room for genuine reflection and clarity. Through her professional approach to coaching, you never feel judged with Alexa - even when returning to recurring themes or old habits - and you always feel fully supported. Her knowledge of, and ability to adapt to, neurodiverse profiles has expanded my own perspective and approach to leadership.
Alexa has an ability to balance an empathetic, friendly, and approachable manner with the courage to ask provocative, deep questions. She gently holds up a mirror and challenges you to examine the “why” behind your actions. Alexa also has an impressive memory for your journey - when similar issues arise, she seamlessly references past sessions to remind you of how you successfully overcame those challenges before. She never shies away from asking the difficult questions, but always does so with complete warmth and understanding.
I am grateful to have connected with Alexa though a friends recommendation, and highly thankful and appreciative of the time I have spent with her. She is an insightful and intuitive coach. J.B., Deputy Primary Principal
