Coaching was originally built on ideas that were attuned to how the world was experienced about 30/40 years ago, hopeful of progress, growth and beliefs in the future. It feels that we now live in a very different world, particularly from the perspective of younger people.
However, coaches still hold the same allegiances to their sponsors and to how people can be used in organisations in the most efficient ways.
As far as staying ‘current’ to these changing realities, some coaches put their faith into the latest ‘innovations’, such as use of neuroscience or AI. Others assume a ‘god-like’ role in meddling with the teams’ purposes or trying to ‘transform’ the whole organisations.
