About me
Leadership Coach - London
For over 25 years I have worked in leadership development and coaching, organisational change, strategy and culture, employee engagement, the physical working environment, and team facilitation.
Working life rarely allows much space for reflection or generative thinking. My approach is to help clients step back, build self-awareness, and strengthen their confidence and self-belief. The aim is to enable people to tap into their own creativity so they can enhance their performance, resilience, and sense of fulfilment at work.
Clients describe me as insightful, energetic and intuitive, and say that working with me is both enjoyable and intellectually stretching. I combine strong analytical thinking with an ability to cut through the noise and get to what really matters.
My work is grounded in psychological theory and practice. Drawing on my background in psychology and my love of both the theoretical and the practical, I work creatively with clients and often act as a catalyst for new perspectives to emerge. My approach is integrative and flexible, drawing on Transactional Analysis, positive psychology, the Thinking Environment, and Cognitive Behavioural principles. Having spent many years in line, middle and senior management roles myself, I also bring first-hand understanding of the challenges of leading and motivating diverse individuals and teams.
My interest in psychology goes back a long way. I graduated with a first-class honours BA majoring in Psychology from the University of Queensland in 1988. My focus on the application of psychology in the workplace was reignited in the late 1990s, leading me to complete an MSc in Occupational Psychology at Birkbeck, University of London in 2001. After finishing my MSc I moved into consultancy, working with clients across the private, public and charitable sectors before establishing my own practice, Insight, in 2011.
Over time I have shifted the balance of my work away from large consulting projects and towards one-to-one and team coaching, as well as coaching supervision. I design and deliver in-house coaching skills workshops and am a lead coach facilitator for the Level 5 Apprenticeship in Professional Coaching for Managers.
Outside work, I love painting and photography. When I’m not coaching or facilitating, you’ll often find me in my small art studio painting abstract pieces inspired by nature. Every couple of years I take myself on a travelling “art residency” to explore new places and indulge my creativity. I am constantly surprised and delighted by the synergy that exists between my creative and professional worlds.
