About me

Executive Coach - Southampton, London & Bournemouth

Companies come to me to support their people to grow through big changes, rather than being knocked for six. They also call on me to coach great leaders to create a ripple effect in the organisation’s engagement and productivity. I coach passionate people to live their best story in times of change and in times of stability.
People come to me to make high impact transitions from one company to another, from one role to another, and in stepping up to more senior leadership levels – or any other change they are making. They figure out what to leave behind and what to take with them; how to work through uncertainty; and how to make a great new beginning. They want to get clearer about their way forward, grow through the changes, manage their stress levels, enhance their own and others’ performance, and achieve their potential.

Contracting for Results

My approach to coaching is simple, non-directive, client-centred, encouraging clients to work and think in an adult way with themselves and towards others. I help people to look at things from different perspectives and explore options creatively. I contract for results with my clients and their organisation, and hold my clients accountable for their actions, pinning them down and following up. Couple that with my use of intuition to say what I see, and you get a transformational blend. Individuals say that I help them to think deeply for themselves; bring greater degrees of balance and purpose to their work and life; and provide a safe environment, in which to make sometimes uncomfortable changes happen. But don't just take my word for it - you can hear my style in action in these audio files.

Leadership Programmes

I previously worked in learning and development roles in NatWest and Accenture; and lead the strategy for the leaders of all levels programme at Accenture. I won awards from Brandon Hall, and the Management Innovation Xchange for my ground-breaking behaviour change programmes, such as the Individualised Leadership Programme, the 30 Day Challenge, and Employee Experience, about which I have presented at conferences. I am a prolific blogger, have written magazine articles on action learning, coaching supervision and mentor coaching, and a book called Being a Sunbeam; and have spoken at the ICF UK Conference. I have 18 years of coaching experience; and was instrumental in setting up and nurturing the Coaching Network, a group of 650+ people who wanted to build their coaching skills for the benefit of the business.

Diverse Cultures

I have worked with leaders at all levels in Financial Services, Professional Services, Energy, Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Logistics, Not-for-Profits, local councils; and with cultures as diverse as India, the Philippines, Brazil, China, Europe, and the United States.

Before working with Clare I felt that I was at a crossroads in my career. I could not see a way forward and could not think clearly on which path to take or how to take the first step. Spending time being coached by Clare was one of the most positive experiences I have had. In a very short space of time, the techniques she used enabled me to have a sudden moment of clarity and I knew what I had to do and how I was going to approach it. The most significant improvement for me is that I now feel back in control of my own destiny. My confidence has returned and I am proactively working on my next steps. It has enabled me to take active decisions which have really helped to hone my thinking and given me a path which I am excited to follow. Liz. C.

Clare is a very effective coach who listens, reflects, pushes you to the most relevant issues to deal with, is logical and is able to track your challenges through to resolution. Clare is experienced in working with senior people in this capacity. N. Taylor. Managing Director

Clare is a natural innovator and inspiration to those she works with. In Accenture, she created the impact and reach that social networks dream of, long before social networks had gone viral. She created an offering called the 30 Day Challenge which a colleague had proposed and she turned it into an industrial scale development approach, that was tapped into (voluntarily) by thousands of people across continents. The impact of this was putting developing people at the heart of our business, and upskilling Line Managers globally whether they were transitioning into a new role, or just wanting to be better at inspiring and managing our people. But it didn't end there - Clare created a movement, and the people that she inspired took her work and applied it... not only to develop their own coaching skills, but became coaching-based leaders and supported their people's development. As a transition coach, Clare made a great difference to my own personal development. She actively listened, championed, encouraged, challenged, questioned, celebrated... me along my path to becoming a PCC coach, and also to being promoted into a leadership role at Accenture. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Clare to you and your organisation on an individual level and as a professional coach who truly understands how to achieve impact on an industrial scale. You will not regret working with Clare, you'll wonder how you managed before. Diana B.

I had the chance to have coaching sessions a few years ago with Clare and this was a great opportunity for me and for my company. A real win-win process during which Clare focus on helping me to find concrete solutions for the business in complete balance with my personality and my skills.

Clare supported me as a coach as I navigated a significant career and life transition. Clare is a powerful coach, someone who is committed to pure coaching and holding her clients in a space of being responsible for creating their intended outcomes. During our time together I was able to identify new strategies for managing upwards and better handling competing priorities. Clare was able to adapt to my evolving agenda and was always patient, positive and a great listener. LT

I have been lucky enough to work with Clare over the last year focussing on organisational transition and confidence. She has a very encouraging, facilitative style and is able to utilise a wide range of coaching techniques to fit the circumstances. She always does this in a collaborative way, ensuring that as the client you always feel safe but suitably challenged throughout the process. She is very skilled in her art and I have valued my time with her.

I have worked with Clare for the past 5 months. I have found her coaching approach very helpful. She brings a blend of insightful direction and encouraging the person to reflect and bring out the answers. This means the answers have a powerful effect. She is very easy to work with and inspires trust and confidence, regardless of subject matter. HA
