About me

Executive Coach - Bristol, South West & London

I am a heartfelt, warm and challenging coach and supervisor working across the South West. Highly experienced and qualified, I draw upon many different approaches and methodologies so that I can be flexible with each client. I love hearing about the aspirations, frustrations, complexities and challenges of the different worlds in which my coaching clients operate and more importantly, challenging and supporting them to build upon their abilities and capabilities and achieve what they want to have happen.

I believe in a solutions focus and paying attention to resourcefulness in the present and future rather than difficulties in the past. My style is peaceful yet challenging, purposeful yet relaxed. I will hold time and space for you with compassion and build connection and trust, but I won't empathise or sympathise once the coaching is underway as friends, family and work colleagues can give plenty of both. That doesn't mean I don't care, because I do. My professional skill is directing that care for you into insightful questions and choosing the right coaching tool for the right moment to uncover potential and facilitate transformation. Return on investment is important - everyone is under conflicting demands for their time and energy. I believe coaching should ask you the questions that you wouldn't ask yourself and challenge the limitations and assumptions that others might pass by. I love the phrase 'fierce courage' and this sums up my belief about coaching work at its best.

When I'm not coaching, I really enjoy developing new and experienced coaches through coaching skills programmes and ILM coaching qualifications. My business inspired2learn is both an ILM and CMI accredited centre and delivers an extensive portfolio of qualifications in coaching, supervision and leadership worldwide. I’ve written and published two coaching books and a set of coaching cards. Working with middle managers and senior leaders in a coaching relationship is especially rewarding. These roles can be isolated and the impact of time to think, be challenged and supported by a coach has the potential for transforming behaviours and outcomes.

I coach face to face or virtually. A one off session or a longer term relationship both work well, depending on what the client is seeking to achieve. Supervision can be 1:1 or in a group setting. I also run in-house groups for organisations and coaching pools.

I am a Member of the AC, CMI, EMCC, ANLP and AOCS. I am Fellow of the ILM and RSA.

Away from work and with two very dodgy knees, I spend a lot of time road cycling and mountain biking in beautiful Wiltshire and beyond. I spend as much time as I can outdoors on the bikes or walking and if the weather is bad, I use it as an excuse to stay indoors and crochet or play my ukulele!

As a coach, Clare has the ability to get to the niggle point and ask "that question" in a highly efficient and friendly way. After our session I was able to park my action until I was in a position to actually do something, in a way I hadn't been able to before without constantly questioning myself. As a supervisor, Clare's knowledge and skill in enabling every member of the group to explore their topic using different techniques, ensures enlightenment for all participating. In one session I have already learnt so much about my coaching and how I can improve. I am excited to see where the next session takes us.

Clare provided coaching support to me at a pivot point in my career. Her challenging approach got the best out of me, helped me reaffirm my desired career direction and forced me to think about my passion and talents. Clare used a range of approaches, the Ikigai model was particularly helpful and something I continue to refer to. I secured my dream job whilst undertaking coaching with Clare, the sessions were invaluable and I have would highly recommend her. A.J.

Clare was my tutor during the successful completion of the ILM Level 7 Certificate. She is now my supervisor. As a tutor Clare was first class. She was very proactive, always stretched my thinking and was an ever ready mine of resources. There is no doubt that I benefited from her experience and her insights. As a supervisor she has proven to be a great sounding board where she puts her wealth of knowledge and expertise to great use. Clare certainly has a natural way of getting the best from people.
